Amtrak Musings

Artists' Notes on Amtrak Musings:

1 Sound art project
like John Cage's experimental music intentions
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zY7UK-6aaNA&feature=fvwrel ,
"Everything we do is music." - John Cage

Implementation: Record background sound blend of Metra riders' conversations (1),
blending with melody/rhythm/volume/manipulations of sounds (2) + acoustic cajon drums for structure/sounds in metro/street (3)

like 林憶蓮's 2001 album street sound blends.

2 Color art project
collage of photo shoots of nice colors mosaic blend (?)

3 Lines project
snap different angles of train tracks & arrange them vertically/horizontally to form lines of pattern on collage

4 Language Impressions vs. Dance/Musical Interpretations
Dancer's improvised choreography based on their reactions to the language's flow and rhythm (Dance)
Musician's interpretation or improvisation accompaniment based on their reactions to the language's flow and rhythm (Musical)

5 WYSIWYG (What you SAY is what you get) --> Lack of Resources = bad art
(sentences + budget cut tables + figures collage into a pleasing piece of art with some art historical/iconographical importance) = visual results contrast.

Télépopmusik - Breathe

Open up this can of music.. pour it gently into your ears...
Feel the tempo in your nerves work into your pulse - straight into your heart -

Immerse into this moment - where all of your thoughts, stress, pressure, physical strain,
FIZZING UP like a soda with CO2 - released into the air with every beat. melodic line in the background...

So gentle yet so therapeutic. Breathe.

Wonderland

Youtube is my aural wonderland.

You took me there for a spin in the music you chose...

and I danced - got dizzy - it felt so good to be led by your hands...

I loved it.
