[Music/Lyrics/Translation] 夢田 (Field for Dreams) / Classic Mandarin folk song

夢田 ("Field for Dreams")
The lyrics of this song is actually by one of my favorite novelists,
whose pen name was San Mao. This song was out in 1985, in San Mao's autobiographical music album entitled, "Echo" (Echo was her English name), with her lyrical works.
She lived a short life and died young. Some say she committed suicide because she couldn't endure the pain after losing her husband Jose, the love of her life, while some say it was her medical condition that pained her. Nevertheless, she was quite a legendary spirit and left the legacy of her writings and works. Many musicians and artists turned her lyrical works into songs; Yue-Yun Pan and Yu-Chi were one of them. This song is a signature work and one of Mandarin pop's classics.

My parents were the ones who introduced me to this. This was the song of their era; an era when Taiwanese college students promoted their own idea of music -- with things as simple as their voices and guitars.

San Mao
夢田 ("Field for Dreams")

In every person's heart, there is an acre of field
In every person's heart, there is a dream
One, one seed, is an acre of field in my heart.

In every person's heart, there is an acre of field
In every person's heart, there is a dream
One, one seed, is an acre of field in my heart.

*chorus
What should I plant with it? What should I plant with it?
Plant peaches, plant plums, plant spring's breezes...
What should I plant with it? What should I plant with it?
Plant peaches, plant plums, plant spring's breezes...
After the flowers finish blossoming, spring shall come again...

Repeat *chorus

That's an acre, an acre of field in my heart
That is a dream in my heart that never ends

- - -
*Notes: One can definitely view this in a poetic/metaphorical way - and understand that the fruits and the breezes are all symbolisms of hope and dreams.
